different後面跟單數還是複數

different有多個意思，表示“不同的；不一樣的；有區別的”，側重指與別的東西不同，其英語釋義是：not like something or someone else, or not like before, not the same (as)，它的意思與similar比較接近。此時它可以用定語，完全它所修飾的名詞根據情況可以單數也可以是複數。

如：

he reopened his operation under a different name. 他用不同的名字重新開了他的公司。

I chose a different route to avoid the inconvenience of going through the town centre.  我選擇了另一條路線以避免穿越市中心的不便。

People often give very different accounts of the same event.  人們通常對同一件事情給出不同的敘述。

表示“分別的；彼此分開的；各不相同的”，側重指同類中事物間的差異性，此時它的意思是used to talk about two or more separate things of the same basic kind，與形容詞various比較接近。此時它用作定語（其實表示此義時它通常只用作定語），通常只修飾複數名詞（因為談論的兩個或多個不同的事物）。
