翻譯三原則

泰特勒（A·F·Tytler），英國人，翻譯家。於1790年著《論翻譯的原理》一書。提出了著名的翻譯三原則：

1．譯文應完全複寫出原作的思想。

A translation should give a complete transcript of the ideas of the original work.

2．譯文的風格和筆調應與原文的性質相同。

The style and manner of writing should be of the same character as that of the original.

3．譯文與原作同樣流暢。

A translation should have all the ease of the original composition.

《論翻譯的原理》內容簡介：1791年，英國愛丁堡大學歷史學教授亞歷山大·弗雷澤·泰特勒(AIexarlder Fraser Tytler，1747—1814)在其所著的《論翻譯的原則》(Essay on the Principles 0fTranslation)一書中提出了著名的“翻譯三原則”，標誌著西方譯學研究從此走上了從理論推證理論的道路。故而，將《論翻譯的原則》譽為西方現代譯學研究的開山之作並不為過。 

在國內學界，“翻譯三原則”幾乎人人耳熟能詳，正如嚴復的“信、達、雅”一樣如雷貫耳。
